Montevideo, 9th of July 2008, meeting at the Asociación Uruguaya de Volantes at Edil Hugo Prato 2325, Alberto Domingo, Ricardo Joubanoba, Augusto Basigaluz, Carlos Abeiro, Jorge Tomasi, Gustavo De León, Bernardo Brum, Juan Abeiro, Carlos Montagna, Roberto Cristófano, Ángel Longo, Ramiro Balcarcel, Rogelio Belloso, Guillermo Domínguez, Alex Better, Alejandro Domingo, Enrique Duhart and Nicolás Longo to create the Saab Club Uruguay. Journalist Albino Olmos is also present.
The club logo designed by Alejandro Domingo is approved.
Any Saab owner or enthusiast may be members of the Club Saab Uruguay.
It is agreed that the following objectives will take place:
a)Organize meetings to Exchange information, history and comments of the cars.
b)Organize outings in order to enjoy our Saabs.,
c)Create a web site www.clubsaaburuguay.com.uy in order to show the world the Saab history of Uruguay, where we will publish photos and restoration methods of our cars, publish technical details submitted by our members, and any Saab topic that may be of interest.
d)Produce spare parts and accessories that are no longer available.
Alberto Domingo thanks all those present, specially those who are part of the Saab history of Uruguay, mentioning that he had invited Jose Arijon to the meeting, who was the Saab representative for Uruguay from 1964 and imported all the cars that we still enjoy today, but that he could not be there but sent warm regards to all ,.
Also not present was Jaques Bourgeois founding member of Automotora Boreal company that represented Saab in Uruguay as from 1964. who promised to be at the next meetings
Domingo recalled that the original idea to bring Saab to Uruguay by René Irión and José Arijón. Ramiro Balcarcel, Carlos Montagna, Enrique Duhart and Gustavo de León, expresad memories of the founding early days.
Jorge Tomasi requested the club should commence and that Alberto Domingo be president, taking into account the fact Domingo organized the meeting and idea of creating the club.
The motion is approved by all . Proposed is that Domingos shop at Marcelino Sosa 2972 Montevideo be the club formal address.
Tomasi also proposes a technical commission to be headed by those who were next to the make in the 60’s and 70’s Carlos Montagna, Ramiro Balcarcel, Enrique Duhart, Ángel Longo, Rogelio Belloso, Alex Better, mixed with the young ones who have Saabs today. Ramiro Balcarcel and Enrique Duhart are the Technical comisión.
Alberto Domingo proposes as founding memberes, apart from those present, Carlos Walmsley, Roberto Barbat, Ignacio Montes de Oca, Diego Bukstein, Enrique Bercetche, Ricardo Duhart, Alvaro Martínez, Jaques Bourgeois, Agustin Domingo. Who for various reasons could not make it.
Domingo also states that Honoray members are:Jose Arijon and Hector Marcial Fojo, who raced for Saab in the early days.
